Briar Burl AtoH
Briar Burl is a special wood usually used for making smoking pipes. It also turns out to be a great wood for woodworking too. Very easy to sand even though it is hard and the results are great. This is a very difficult wood to produce, the burls are odd small shapes with holes cracks and stones in the them. This is why you almost never see high quality blanks for sale, just the burls. The labor is prohibitive, but we like to make some for our customers from time to time because they are really interesting. Note: Prices actually went down from the last time we offered these years ago, we just got a better yeild this time!

Knife Blanks
Briar Burl is a wood traditionally used for making smoking pipes. It is very difficult to get much out of the burls as they are small, cracked and have stones and dirt embedded in them (woe to saw blades!). Every once in a while we cut some of this material to add something different to our wood. Usually sold only in whole burls because of the problems getting good pieces. We wanted to be the exception and actually offer our customers high quality squares and blanks that are ready to use.
