Ancient Kauri 1to10

Ancient Kauri is from 30 to 50 thousand year old trees in a remarkable state of preservation. They were somehow buried very rapidly, likely due to a tsunami. It resulted in the trees being cut off from oxygen so completely that one tree was recently recovered which still had some green leaves on it after being dead for 30 thousand years.

These pen blanks all came from the original company that dug them up. The company calls these pieces “burl” but I would not call them that. I would call them pieces with interesting grain and a little figure. True figure in these trees is ultra rare. These are the best from about 110 so called “burl” pieces. One time offering.
