Kamagong Ebony is from Southeast Asia and is very rare on the wood market. It is diospyros blancoi, a distinct ebony type. The tree produces a fruit called wood apple which is eaten in Asia. These blanks are crazy rare because of the wild figure in them.
The wood is green (both light and dark green) and black with tan. The tan color is unusual in that it turns orange over time, which is really stunning, so as impressive as these already are, they’ll be even more beautiful in a few months from now. The orange color comes faster if the wood is exposed to sunlight, in case you want to speed up the process. One of the photos shows a couple spots of orange starting on the tan area so you can see the beginning of it. The green and black colors seems to stay as they are over time, at least in the samples I have worked on for the last 10 months.
We used the different color background for these photos as our usual one seems to make the colors look inaccurate.
Rare offering. Pretty enough as they are to just sit on your desk and admire them!
