Black Palm Squares (ALL DRIED)
Black Palm is one of those unique woods that belong in the list of exotics. It is easy to sand and has some characteristics different from other woods. You'll find the black part is less absorbent than the white/light part. This means that the light part will darken somewhat if you don't use a sanding sealer to prevent it from absorbing whatever finish you use. Both appearances are good, but for more contrast use a sanding sealer.

Bloodwood 17to27
High quality DRIED bi-color bloodwood. We have taken the extensive period of time to slow dry these, and then remove any defects after the drying is over. These have variegated colors and they were picked for that different look. 17 has a burly figure near the top. Figure is very rare in bloodwood. Providing this dried defect free wood is at least 4 times as much labor and about 30% more expensive for materials as providing wet waxed wood which may or may not have cracks. Our standard is much higher than the normal industry average.

Bloodwood 1to6
Dried bloodwood in ultra rare PRIMO PLUS grade. Bloodwood grades of primo are way above average for bloodwood and have a nice saturated red color. Note that we do our best with photos but we really cannot show how nice these are. Primo Plus is a new grade we had to add to explain the quality of this limited supply of deeper red , usually higher density and finer grained bloodwood. This is probably not replaceable once gone, we last had this (but only 1" thick) in 2012 and don't see a way to get more. This was a one time lucky find that came from a single large log. The extra care we take: Dried bloodwood is a big feature because bloodwood over 1.5 inches thick is really quite difficult to dry and cannot be forced. Kiln drying sometimes works but usually just ends up ruining all the wood. Dense bloodwood often gets internal cracks when drying that you only find out about once you cut into it. This is not a good surprise to customers, so we make sure any pieces over 1" thick are dried very gently in a multi step process that can take years. Even this means we lose about 1/3 of the wood due to cracking, but we wait for any cracks to form and then cut them out before we send the wood. There is a huge difference between these pieces and the cheaper waxed ones (most of which have hidden cracks in the ends and other places) that are sold by most other companies.

Bloodwood 28to38
Dried Bloodwood in the high grade primo color. There is a small percentage of bloodwood with this color so these are normally considered "selected best". Dried over long periods slowly to avoid the degrade caused by kiln drying bloodwood. (Bloodwood is notorious for getting internal (totally hidden) checks that run the length of the piece on the inside when kiln dried about 1.25 inches thick). This is a precious wood that will be harder to get the future. Brazil is trying to lockdown most all wood cutting by 2030, or before. Brazil is the only good source of this wood unless you want cardinalwood which is a usually brown wood with faint red tones that grows in other countries.

Bloodwood M to T
Excellent pieces of bloodwood dried for almost 3 years. We got these in August 2021 and have been slow drying them ever since. It makes a huge difference to dry bloodwood correctly. You cannot rush this wood type (unless you are a wizard with a vacuum kiln) otherwise you have to wait. Most sellers would never do this for you, you just get handed a wet, waxed piece which may have hidden cracks and rot. These were really nice but we rejected lots of them that you'll never see since they had hidden cracks under the wax when we got them in. Even dry bloodwood can be cracked by wrong handling so always use extra caution with storage and working in bloodwood. Avoid excess heat in sanding as that is the number one cause of cracks, other than leaving them out exposed in dry or warm areas which also causes issues.

Bog Oak 1 to 13
Bog Oak from Ukraine. This wood is extremely old (most recent carbon dating is 7560 years ago) and also unique (comes from a salt bog rather than fresh water bog). The salt crystals are visible and can either be left in for uniqueness or removed. Removing the salt is either a matter of plucking them out with a pin or adding something to the surface to dissolve them. I have used water, but an oil for finishing might also work. They are dried and ready to use. Supports a small producer in Ukraine. A certificate is also available if you request it in the comments at checkout.

Bog Oak 1.5 x 1.5 x 6's
Saltwater Bog Oak from Ukraine. These high grade pieces are considered the darkest in color which generally means they are the oldest. They are about 7500 years old . The white areas are salt crystals, you can flick them out with a pin or keep them in to maintain the unusual character of these. A certificate is available, just request that in the comments section when checking out. These were carbon dated by a laboratory.$17.00

Bog Oak from Ukraine
This is salt water bog Oak from Ukraine. Age has been dated about 7600 years old, making it one of the older bog oak types available. It is also one of the blackest. The little white areas are salt crystals. You can flick them out of the grain with a pin if you want, or leave them in. Despite the war in Ukraine we are still able to get small amount of this rare wood.
