Borneo Rosewood 1-7

Borneo Rosewood is a rare type of red colored wood from the island of Borneo and also Southeast Asia (Thailand, etc). It is considered the best wood to keep a red color over a long period of time. The wood is quite dense and polishes very well. The darker pieces turn a sort of cranberry red over time. The pieces that are more orange turn a red color over time. Note that the pictures shown pieces that are recently cut, they have not had time to turn to a deeper shade yet. It does not tend to turn brown, making it quite unusual. This is not a genuine rosewood (which all have a latin name starting with "dalbergia") and for that reason it is allowed to be shipped worldwide.

Boxwood 4 to 16

Genuine dried Boxwood. This type is Buxus Macowannii. A true buxus species and has a very fine grain, as this was taken from South Africa where it apparently grows quite slowly. Great quality material. It is a lot of labor to make these pieces, but we feel it is worth it to offer material that is top quality. When pieces are the general size of a Knife handle blank, we just label them as knife blanks. They can be used for all sorts of purposes though. Grades, see the description for boxwood. Buckeye Burl 43-51

Buckeye Burl from Northern California, USA. Dried and then stabilized, following by careful filling of any external gaps with superglue.

Buckeye Burl 35 to 42

Buckeye Burl that has been dried and Stabilized. After stabilizing we take the extra step of filling any gaps/slits that still exist with superglue.

Cherry Burl AtoE

Black Cherry Burl from the Applachian area of the Southern USA. These are selected best, most cherry burl has much less impressive figure than these. These were dried in slab form over 3-5 years, then cut into these pieces. All of them have been glued in some way and basically they've been soaked in superglue from the outside. You might have to glue some areas on the inside, at least in some cases.

Desert Ironwood 1to7

These are odd pieces of desert ironwood we've had on the shelf for years. Each one is quite interesting with nice grain or even burl. Pieces 1, 2, 4, 5 have all be extensively glued over natural gaps, divets and other faults. We did a heck of a job on them, but you should expect that some gluing on the inside will be needed. Those pieces have a price that is at least 30% off the normal price. #3 has some burl on one side, and 6 and 7 are actual burl. All pieces were dried more then 10 years ago.

Desert Ironwood 21to30

Various sizes in these dried Desert Ironwood pieces. We call them "knife blanks" when they are shaped like this, they are good for many uses as well as knife handles. Some of these have great patterns!

Ebony 300 to 306

Dried Black Ebony. Each piece is graded in the picture. Shown Bare wood, so with a clear finish they usually look all black, especially A+ and AA. They'll be coated with a clear coat before shipping to protect them.

Figured Ceylon Satinwood

These thicker pieces have been fully slow dried over many years. A wood that is nice to work, has great figure and changes appearance from every light angle. This makes the full extent of the figure hard to show in photos, you really need a video for something like this. A favorite of woodturners and other woodworkers for many years. ALL are GG+/GG grade

Flamewood Rosewood 9to16

Rare Flamewood rosewood, dalbergia cochinchinensis. Also called Siamese Rosewood, it is one of the most sought after rosewoods in the world (possibly #1). No longer imported, these were made from boards that were imported a long time ago. High quality pieces with great color. Dried
