Cocobolo 220to223
Nice clean cut pieces in cocobolo rosewood. They are dried, inspected, sanded and finished. Size could vary but only slightly. These are 1.5 x 1.5 x 6 inch squares. Cocobolo is hard to get now, and we have to cut away a fair amount of these squares to get clean pieces like these.

Cocobolo 2x2x12's AtoJ
Dried pieces of cocobolo. We do check the ends/pieces for cracks and straighten them on the table saw. Cocobolo has very limited availability on the market due to the restrictions on genuine rosewoods. Supply of this wood is not guaranteed in the future.

Desert Ironwood 2 x 2 x 6's
Desert Ironwood (olneya tesota) with nice stripes. These are larger then most blanks and have no visible defects. We dried these about 15 months to get them ready to use.
Piece D
Desert Ironwood, dried, size: 2 x 2 x 6 inches
Desert Ironwood 366to377
Desert Ironwood from the Sonoran Desert. The first six are very good pieces that all have some kind of figure in them. Some of it is best seen when moving a polished piece under the light, so there really is no extra charge for that, just an interesting extra feature. The Second group of six have really extraordinary lines and figured grain, very few pieces of ironwood look as good as these.

Desert Ironwood 600to612
Desert Ironwood from Mexico. This is the same material we have been selling . It is dried and very nice. We have tried to source from the USA but we've been told there isn't nearly enough material in the USA side of the Sonoran desert. The sale price on these continues for now, so take advantage of these!

East Indian Rosewood 50-59
Very nice dried pieces of this genuine rosewood. These are old growth stock, rather than the other option called Sonokeling. I am no fan of Sonokeling because they force the trees to grow fast and the wood ends up with weird greenish grey colors and a coarse grain. Nature does the best job growing trees, and nature is the farmer for these blanks. Note we brought these in about 15 months ago to dry them. The price has gone up since then so when current stock is gone the new price will be about 4-5 dollars higher than the prices you see here. We do have a few pieces not shown too.

Ebony "Steel" A-H
Genuine Ebony that has been dyed black and stabilized. Ultra dense, heavier than Lignum Vitae. I call them "Ebony Steel". Even though this wood has a fine grain, a special stabilization program was able to impregnate a large amount of resin in these. They almost feel like picking up a piece of steel bar stock. Sanding is easy and produces a glass like finish. Note that interior color can vary and sometimes the deepest part of the core has a tan or grey streak in it, if there, it is usually about a round 5/8 inch core of differing color. Outside of that they seem to be this really unusual black graphite color.. .

Ebony 100-108
This photo shows this ebony with a coat of shellac. AIR DRIED COMPLETELY. (under 12%) Note that the grading system is based on us looking at the wood when it is completely bare wood, not finished. For all but the most expensive pieces, we are showing photos of finished wood. All pieces ARE dry (for real) of course. Note that ebony is a little bit more brittle then some woods, and just because it is dry does not mean it won't crack if you get it super hot sanding it (if you cannot comfortably put your hand on it--then is too hot) or by hitting it with a hard object like a hammer, or dropping it on a cement floor.

Ebony 109-123
This photo shows this ebony with a coat of shellac. AIR DRIED COMPLETELY. (under 12%) See All four pics below of the bare wood sides of these pieces (this is what other vendors don't show--they only show the wood after finishing because that darkens it). Note that the grading system is based on us looking at the wood when it is completely bare wood, not finished. PLEASE READ THE GRADING SYSTEM AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE TO UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF A, A+, AA ETC. If two grades are shown, it is in between those two grades. When two grades are shown, the one that is closest to correct is listed first.
