African Blackwood AtoH

African Blackwood, a genuine rosewood, is well known for millenia and is likely what the Ancient Egyptians called "ebony". It has a very fine grain, takes a glass like polish and is well suited for ornamental turnery, woodwinds, and anything that involves fine detail. It cannot be shipped outside the USA due to international trade restrictions on all genuine rosewoods.

Super hard to find in this quality and dry, virtually gone from the market. Becoming a restricted wood as far as the ones from Africa go, these are from Thailand though.

Australian Blackwood 1-6

Wonderful dried and figured pieces that look just like Koa, at a much lower price. These all came from a very large slab. It was part of the outside of a large tree and every bit of it was highly figured. Some Australian blackwood looks more like the photo at the top of this page, but this slab produced pieces that look so much like koa I cannot tell them apart from Koa, and I cannot guarantee that this isn't really koa that was mis-identified as Aussie Blackwood.

Black & White Ebony 1 - 11

Dried pieces are rarely for sale in Black and White ebony. We took the years necessary to slow dry it to avoid defects or cut them out as necessary. It is one of the most difficult exotic woods to dry without defects, warpage and cell collapse. Once dry it is fairly stable though. Ready to use.
