Desert Ironwood 366to377
Desert Ironwood from the Sonoran Desert. The first six are very good pieces that all have some kind of figure in them. Some of it is best seen when moving a polished piece under the light, so there really is no extra charge for that, just an interesting extra feature. The Second group of six have really extraordinary lines and figured grain, very few pieces of ironwood look as good as these.

Ebony "Steel" A-H
Genuine Ebony that has been dyed black and stabilized. Ultra dense, heavier than Lignum Vitae. I call them "Ebony Steel". Even though this wood has a fine grain, a special stabilization program was able to impregnate a large amount of resin in these. They almost feel like picking up a piece of steel bar stock. Sanding is easy and produces a glass like finish. Note that interior color can vary and sometimes the deepest part of the core has a tan or grey streak in it, if there, it is usually about a round 5/8 inch core of differing color. Outside of that they seem to be this really unusual black graphite color.. .

Ebony 100-108
This photo shows this ebony with a coat of shellac. AIR DRIED COMPLETELY. (under 12%) Note that the grading system is based on us looking at the wood when it is completely bare wood, not finished. For all but the most expensive pieces, we are showing photos of finished wood. All pieces ARE dry (for real) of course. Note that ebony is a little bit more brittle then some woods, and just because it is dry does not mean it won't crack if you get it super hot sanding it (if you cannot comfortably put your hand on it--then is too hot) or by hitting it with a hard object like a hammer, or dropping it on a cement floor.

Ebony 109-123
This photo shows this ebony with a coat of shellac. AIR DRIED COMPLETELY. (under 12%) See All four pics below of the bare wood sides of these pieces (this is what other vendors don't show--they only show the wood after finishing because that darkens it). Note that the grading system is based on us looking at the wood when it is completely bare wood, not finished. PLEASE READ THE GRADING SYSTEM AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE TO UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF A, A+, AA ETC. If two grades are shown, it is in between those two grades. When two grades are shown, the one that is closest to correct is listed first.

Flamewood Rosewood 4to8
Super rare Flamewood (dalbergia cochinchinensis). No longer imported and cannot be shipped outside the USA. These pieces are dried and high quality. Sorry that the 4th picture got lost in processing. No surprises on the 4th side though, looks as you'd expect from the other photos.
Piece 5
Flamewood (genuine rosewood), dried, size: 1 13/16 x 1 13/16 x 5 1/8 inches
Gmelia Burl
Some unusual burls for one time sale. NOTES: The American elm burl has been soaked in superglue which was then sanded off multiple times. You likely will have to glue it more on the inside but we really worked all the glue in we could from the outside. These were so extraordinary for elm I decided to put a couple hours+ additional work into them just to make them nice. We have no more elm like these, nor have I seen any for sale. The Gmelia burl is the last piece we have in the shop, and it is a very nice solid and pretty piece.

Holly A-L
This is American Holly, (ilex opaca). The wood has been become rare on the market due to the difficulty in getting white pieces. For decades almost the whole country relied on just one individual who had the special skill and equipment to acquire holly and dry it white. He has now retired. On its own, Holly dries to a grey color with green streaks. It must be dried rapidly and correctly in a vaccuum kiln to get white pieces. Note that holly, when it is polished is at best ivory white with some grain showing. Sometimes it looks whiter when rough cut. These are almost the whitest the wood can be. We currently cannot replace them.
Piece I
Holly (ilex opaca) dried size: 1 x 1 x 9 3/8 inches
Piece K
Holly (ilex opaca) dried size: 1 x 1 x 8.25 inches
Holly TtoY
American Holly. These tend to have an off white color that looks a little grey in most cases. Dried (all holly must be dried rapidly after cutting). We have sanded these so you can see the true color. Be aware that holly when it is rough cut looks a lot more white than it really is. These actually looked nearly white when they were rough cut. Sanding and polishes shows the color more accurately so we've done that for you.
Piece V
Holly , dried, size: 1.5 x 1.5 x 5 15/16 inches
Piece Y
