Cocobolo A to K

Dried Cocobolo 2 x 2 x 12's (K is 11.5 inches long). Really nice genuine rosewood, we are lucky to still be able to get this stuff. Most rosewoods are basically off the market, but this is still coming in small amounts, through a permit program.

Desert Ironwood 11to20

Nice dried pieces with grain from plain to highly figured.

Desert Ironwood 8to10

Some really nice 2" squares in ironwood. Dried pieces. These are high quality, and #8 has a lot of figure, see closeup.

Ebony "Steel" A-H

Genuine Ebony that has been dyed black and stabilized. Ultra dense, heavier than Lignum Vitae. I call them "Ebony Steel". Even though this wood has a fine grain, a special stabilization program was able to impregnate a large amount of resin in these. They almost feel like picking up a piece of steel bar stock. Sanding is easy and produces a glass like finish. Note that interior color can vary and sometimes the deepest part of the core has a tan or grey streak in it, if there, it is usually about a round 5/8 inch core of differing color. Outside of that they seem to be this really unusual black graphite color.. .

Ebony 1-12

Note that the grading system is based on us looking at the wood when it is completely bare wood, not finished. These are shown bare wood with no wax or finish to hide the grain. We want you to see the actual piece you are buying, but finishing can make even A grade look close to all black. All pieces ARE dry (for real) of course. Note that ebony is a little bit more brittle then some woods, and just because it is dry does not mean it won't crack if you get it super hot sanding it (if you cannot comfortably put your hand on it--then is too hot) or by hitting it with a hard object like a hammer, or dropping it on a cement floor.

PLEASE READ THE GRADING SYSTEM AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE TO UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF A, A+, AA ETC. If two grades are shown, it is in between those two grades. When two grades are shown, the one that is closest to correct is listed first.

Desert Ironwood 1to7

These are odd pieces of desert ironwood we've had on the shelf for years. Each one is quite interesting with nice grain or even burl. Pieces 1, 2, 4, 5 have all be extensively glued over natural gaps, divets and other faults. We did a heck of a job on them, but you should expect that some gluing on the inside will be needed. Those pieces have a price that is at least 30% off the normal price. #3 has some burl on one side, and 6 and 7 are actual burl. All pieces were dried more then 10 years ago.

Desert Ironwood 21to30

Various sizes in these dried Desert Ironwood pieces. We call them "knife blanks" when they are shaped like this, they are good for many uses as well as knife handles. Some of these have great patterns!

Desert Ironwood 34to35

Desert Ironwood. Dried bowl blanks with great color and some figure too. Pieces were dowsed in superglue that was then sanded off. Dried bowl blanks in Desert Ironwood are difficult to find.

Small micro boards for various projects. 32 and 33 have figure, most of the burl figure in 32 is near the bottom. Dried pieces.
